An easy day for anyone who likes water. Short walks over lava rock to reach the pools.
The day
Lava pools filled by the Atlantic, the ones without a car park next to them. We visit two or three in a day, picked by the tide and the swell: calm, clear water to swim and snorkel in, with the open ocean breaking just behind the rock.
It is the slow day of the list. Swim, eat, lie on warm rock, repeat.
How the day runs
10:00 · Meeting point
We check the tide and choose the pools for the day.
10:30 · First pool
A short walk down, then masks on.
12:30 · Lunch
A local stop near the coast.
14:00 · Second pool
A different coast, a different colour of water. Finish around 15:00.

Are the pools safe?
On the right day, yes. We only go when the sea allows it, and we say no when it does not.
Is it good for children?
Yes, from 6 years, with an adult in the water.
Why only in the warmer months?
The north coast sea is calmer then. In winter the waves come over the rock.
